Thoughts on the New Evolutions, Upgrades, and Assisted Monster Changes

It’s always really fun when you see a ton of updates that come at once.  It creates a new level of excitement, but at the same time, also a sense of being overwhelmed.  55 Cards were buffed and it is fun to see the types of interesting additions.

Which Cards Were Buffed?

The four gentlemen series is what stuck out to me the most.  Xiang Mei already had a great damage output, but I think that adding 2 more fire rows helps bring her into a more stable roll.  It’s not like her damage was low at all, but I think that I will be using her in a future video to test out the damage.  I believe Krishna is overall easier to activate, more consistent, and more flexible, but those 2 rows for each Xiang Mei should scale up the damage tremendously as it did with Gremory
The other four Gentlemen also received awakening buffs (no news of ultimates yet).  Xiu Min now has 4 rows so the damage will be insane paired with Tifa for a giant board, but the damage was already insane so I don’t see any real improvement there except higher damage.  Xin Hua now has double TPA and double dark row, which is similar to Bikini Pandora, so you are more flexible when choosing your damage.  If orbs don’t allow a row, you can still get a ton of damage from TPAs, which is nice.  Especially since her leader skill requires a lot of hearts matched.  This really only improves her damage as a sub, but not much else.
What’s fun are the new types of awakenings we’ve seen recently like the 7 combo damage boost, now added to You Yu and the Valkyries.  The Valkyries also received the guard break awakening, which reduces damage for the enemy by 50% when you match all colors.  This has led to the current best team in the game (with Reincarnated Kushinadahime (what a mouthful) including Reine, the blue valkyrie as a sub, so you can cover all colors.  The full team by the way is Kushi, Reincarnated Haku x3, Reine, and another Kushi.
Some other upgrades may allow us to see more use of the Cyberbeasts and Cyber Dragons.  I used to hate pulling multiples of these, and sold them right away in the past.  Honestly, I had no idea just how good they were.  With the assist system, you can always inherit them as they’re perfect for mono color teams, making either a row or TPA-able column makes them great, plus haste.  Now, their awakenings are even better for more damage if you want to use them as subs.  Some now have triple TPA (Alfecca, Theonis, Kakkab, and Phact), and some have 3 rows now for more damage (Thuban and Sadalmelik).

Holy Crap, Look at all of these Assist Monsters you can Farm.  Some Are Really Great For New Players

Wowie, zowie.  You can now assist teams and improve performances of them with more farmable monsters, without diluting your REM heavy team.  For many people, Jormungandr is a great board change, but they lack the skill bind resistances to make up for his poor awakenings (like my Fenrir team)  I will be able to incorporate a different team set up for my Screw the Meta: Fenrir video (coming soon).
I think a lot of people will love the fact that Linthia, Gainaut, and Jormungandr are available as assists, but now you can get more use out of single orb changers.  Vampire is a great way to create dark orbs, and I’ve always loved that his skill is 5 turns.  I would inherit him onto an entire team if you are just starting out as he isn’t hard to get, and will allow you to have fake skill delay resists without having to purchase them for 30,000 MP or farm an incredibly hard dungeon.  Not everyone has a team like this when they’re first starting out to get skill delay resistance latents.
I really like the fact that you can inherit the mystic knights also.  These cards are great when you’re first starting out, and their stats got pretty good with their reincarnated versions.  Sadly for my account, I didn’t really get any use out of them (Verche even went directly to Myr when she came out) but for newer players, these cards are great if you don’t have anything good from the REM yet.  Even better, with the assist system adding 10% of their HP, 5% of their attack, and 3% of their RCV, those amazing farmable stats can now be added to your monsters.  Since every color can be added, you can farm whichever color you need to match the attribute.
There aren’t too many other great skills to inherit from this update, but I will say that Cauchemar is amazing for many dark/wood heavy teams that don’t have Zuoh.  You also get a damage reduction and decently low cooldown added.  If anyone out there still plays teams like Pandora or Lucifer, but lack that full board change and still die to Beelzebub, this inherit is for you.
I may end up farming a bunch of Hels to inherit onto my Misery team also.

New Evolutions added to NA (No Kushinadahime yet)

You can see the entire list here, but I’ll talk about my favorites (which is most of them).

Reincarnated Haku

reincarnated Haku
Of course, everyone who saw Reincarnated Kushinadahime requires 3 reincarnated hakus is excited to see she is released.  Since Kushinadahime herself is not yet released, people will still have to wait.  I am lucky that I have 3 Hakus so I will be spending this week unevolving my other 2 forms, awakenings them, leveling them up to 99, and then spending 15 masks to evolve them, and then leveling them up to 99 again.  Fun times, but it is worth it for sure.
Haku brings a huge stat boost and a different sub type which is perfect for Kushinadahime.  The 7 combo damage boost is going to go great with her double TPA damage, and having three of her will be an amazing system team.

Reincarnated Sakuya

Reincarnated Sakuya
I can finally begin playing sakuya again!  I may not even need to use Kanna for damage bursting as the new Sakuya can deliver up to x400 damage at 10 combos.  x400 damage is enough for Arena 3, just ask Mantastic, so I’m sure Sakuya will be able to handle it.  This is so exciting and brings me back to when I first started streaming and used Awoken Sakuya for everything.  I have a ton of new cards to choose from now a days, but I am excited for this and will be making a video about her also.

Reincarnated Loki

Reincarnated Loki
Reincarnated Loki is an amazing sub and I would assume with this evolution that he is included on Dark Athena teams more than Durga (if you have the choice between both).  he has the 7 combo awakening, 2 rows, and 2 TPAs so you can use him on any dark team and he will contribute a ton of damage.  I feel like those rows would be better served as something else as I suspect he will be used on more combo teams than rows.  What really helps with Loki is his double skill bind resistance awakenings so you can be more flexible in team building.

Reincarnated Yomi

 Reincarnated Yomi
I wish that Yomi had gone the route of New Years Yomi who reduced damage with more combos.  I thought that would have been a fun meta, but I guess it is reserved for other cards right now.  Instead she can do x15 damage for each Yomi you have, which is pretty great too.  It makes her twice as strong as her Awoken form.  The damage boost is nice, and those time extends don’t lie, but I feel like her rcv and low HP will still be an inhibiting stat which makes her more niche than relevant.

Satsuki Split Ults

 SatsukiSatuki
If I have the choice of 3 TPAs or 4, I will always choose 4 (I don’t even use dark Kanna with her inferior TPAs).  Satsuki has a similar path to Kanna, and if you are looking for a strong sub, definitely go for 4 TPA Satsuki.  Like Loki, her double skill bind resist makes her versatile on team building, and she has a surprising amount of HP for herself.  At 6 rcv though, you’ll need to help her out in that department (most likely with reincarnated Haku).

Reincarnated Hermes

Reincarnated Hermes
If you use the RCV badge like Yuki did in a recent stream, Hermes is amazing.  A few hearts will heal 30,000 HP, and double Hermes will give over 100,000 HP.  The damage is now just plain stupid if you use subs like Meridionalis for more rows.  I will be doing a video on Hermes as well to display his damage as this is just exciting.

Reincarnated Astaroth

Reincarnated Astaroth
I will assume that most people seeing this list of evolutions will skip right over this card without another thought.  In Japan, however, they did not, as she is a top tier leader.  Her triple wood rows, skill bind resist, and bind immunity make her amazing.  What is difficult about her is her restricted sub pool, which has opened up to devils and healers.  I believe it was one or the other when she first was awoken.
I will be checking into the team I can build with her and making a PAD Spotlight soon as I feel she is amazingly good.

Who are you most excited about in this update?
