Gods’ Enemy Monstrous Wolf, Fenrir

Video Screw the Meta

Fenrir is a jammer style lead in a jammer meta that never took off.  Many players liked the idea of Fenrir and kept him in case the meta did take off, but over a year since his creation, he has yet to receive high attention beyond challenges like my Screw the Meta series.  He essentially is a joke of a pull that results in 15,000 MP immediately for many players.

He even has a 50,000 MP version called Fenrir Viz who has a lower cool down, is light attribute, and hits pretty hard with more ease.  I will be doing Fenrir Viz in a future episode, but for now will be focusing on the dark attribute OG Fenrir.

He was originally just jammers to achieve x100, which at the time was among the leaders in damage, and easier to activate than Anubis.  Since then, he was buffed to x625 if you achieve all attributes, which makes him stronger, but tougher to activate.  Below you can see some of my thought process as I work towards making my video runs with Fenrir.  If you have any other suggestions of subs or leaders to pair with, feel free to let me know in the comments if you’ve had any success.

Team Sub Ideas for Fenrir

Fenrir Stats

HP – 3005

Attack – 2010

RCV – 213

Active – Create 3 Jammers & Dark orbs each at random.  Jammers slightly more likely to appear for 1 turn

Leader Skill – Attack increases up to 10x erasing 3+ linked jammers; 2x attack with 4 Attributes, 2.5x for 5 attributes.

Leaders to Pair with

Each Fenrir allows up to 25x multiplier which means a x625 multiplier, which used to be the best, even though it’s hard to pull off consistently.  Double Fenrir is the definition of a glass cannon as he hits super hard, but has no way to survive large hits.  Without 297s, my HP is about 25,000 which isn’t bad, but I’m not stalling through the shield of Myr for 5 turns with Fenrir.

Just look at the power in this C8 Clear

What makes Fenrir a tough lead is his lack of consistency.  His active skill allows immediate activation, but not to the maximum, which needs 9 jammers.  You can use his skill to get the minimum of jammers, and then multiply by the 2.5 for all attributes, but there isn’t a way to get a lot of jammers and ensure rainbow orbs , which means his x625 is not always available.  With double fenrir, you need to understand this going in and realize when you should go for the x625, and when x100 is enough.

I love the idea of Aten for combo leads and rainbow leads.  He is great to pair with Anubis as you have a 7×6 board, but the playstyle changes the subs you would use.

With Fenrir, you need rainbow subs anyway so the sacrifice of damage can hurt (as you only get x5 for Aten) but the killer awakenings can help make up the damage, plus the skyfall increase is great.  Having a 7×6 board makes jammers more likely to appear with full board changes like Gainaut and Jormungandr, but also the skyfall for 1 turn of Fenrir can create many more jammers as you can clear more.  My test runs used Aten below.

Possible Subs for Fenrir (Farmable)

Just a little background on Jormungandr from Wikipedia.  I love how Gung-Ho ties in so many mythical monsters and it’s really cool to know that many of these monsters help inspire the end of the world with Ragnarok.  I feel a little bit responsible.

Odin took Loki’s three children by Angrboða—the wolf Fenrir, Hel, and Jörmungandr—and tossed Jörmungandr into the great ocean that encircles Midgard.[2] The serpent grew so large that it was able to surround the earth and grasp its own tail.[2] As a result, it received the name of the Midgard Serpent or World Serpent. When it releases its tail, Ragnarök will begin. Jörmungandr’s arch-enemy is the thunder-god, Thor.

Jormungandr is pretty much like Awoken Isis on Ra Dragon teams as he helps finish the tough coloring of wood and water.  He is a full board changer with jammers included, in addition to poison for enemies with high defense like predras.

Gainaut covers fire and light which means you’ll have all the colors you need for Fenrir just by having Gainaut and Jormungandr.  The beautiful thing about this is both of these are farmable and if you get as many Fenrir’s from GodFest as I do, you can definitely make these teams.

Gainaut is the same as Jormungandr as he makes a full board plus jammers, but enhances fires, which is something, it doesn’t hurt, but barely helps.  Here’s a board that was created by Gainaut.

Ultimecia is a Final Fantasy Collab farmable monster that doesn’t interfere with Fenrir’s leader skill.  You can even combine her with Gainaut or Jormungandr to create a full board with a ton of jammers (but no hearts).  I like her for this burst, but her lack of awakenings really hurts the team.

Possible Subs for Fenrir (Non Farmable)

Fenrir Viz

I like the idea of Fenrir Viz on Fenrir to make him better as he has a 3 turn cool down and double jammer creation for fires and hearts.  However, removing fire orbs means you can’t fully activate Fenrir, so you would have to have the other 4 attributes to use Fenrir Viz’s skill and still hit hard.  Sacrificing the fire orb isn’t bad for double fenrir leads, but for Aten, you completely miss out on the x5 unless you get a fire skyfall, which leads to less consistency.

A great sub for himself as you can guarantee the minimum for his jammer creation, and help more jammers to skyfall into the board.  You can have more damage from his God Killer and also his skill bind resistance is a great help.  I just wish his skyfall were more than 1 turn so I can get more jammers to flood the board (never thought I’d say that).

Acubens, Denebola, Algedi

Any of these three from the mechanical star god series 2 will help create jammers for Fenrir.  They have God killers which can help with damage, and create 3 jammers which can allow the minimum for Fenrir’s leader skill.

Here are some snapshots of my trials before I record my runthrough tomorrow.  I have found skill binds and binds in general are a big problem for this team, so I may want to try a bind clearer, or someone with 2 skill bind resistances instead of Ultimecia to achieve 100%.  It will depend on the dungeons I play, which is always the case when creating your teams.

Fenrir Vs Arena

Annoyances | Sopdet

This was a playthrough with Fenrir vs sopdet and I’m playing some numbers.  Hopefully with this video you won’t run into the same death as I did.  I am thinking that 3 jammers and some non dark combos should be enough to stay under the 200,000 threshold.  It’s the light attribute + God killer from Fenrir that does me in.
